Plans for the T&P Freight Warehouse are far from scuttled, though conditions that have taken a toll on a number of businesses also are affecting plans for the historic location, Abilene developer Charlie Wolfe said.

But the initial idea for the space – a 24-hour diner – doesn’t seem likely, at least for the next year or two, as COVID-19 continues to take its toll, Wolfe said.

“We’re looking at a wide range of different possibilities in the interim,” Wolfe said.

The building is located at 901 North First St., with the iconic flamingo sculpture, Abilingo, at the west side.

A number of groups have looked at part or all of the space, and “a couple of them are working on getting financing for their start-up costs,” he said.
